Ep-1

Episode One / Takastepanichikewin Peyak
SIX NATIONS OF THE GRAND RIVER

Hi everyone, this is our first episode and we’re really excited. We’re on our way to Six Nations of the Grand River with our mentor and guide, Cassius Spears, and we’re seeing Elder Jan Longboat who is going teach us about plants and herbs used in traditional medicines. We sure hope we avoid picking anything that’s poisonous.

Meet the Elder

Elder Name:  Jan Longboat

What’s your favorite outdoor activity?  Gardening

Who’s your role model/hero?  The women elders in my life. They’ve been my role models, my mentors and my life. They’re the ones to helped guide my life.

Words to live by/favorite traditional teaching? “Nobody is better than you, and you’re not better than everybody else. We need to treat everyday with respect… So treat people well” And that’s what my parents always told us.
